Honey Face Masks

Honey mask is totally edible and doesn’t expose my skin to the chemicals found in most beauty products.

Honey Face Mask for Acne-Prone Skin

Mix:

  • Mix 3 teaspoons honey and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon together, and apply to your face.
  • Leave the mask on for 10-30 minutes.
The antibacterial properties of both honey and cinnamon are especially beneficial for acne-prone skin. (Cinnamon can occasionally be irritating if your skin is really sensitive, so you might want to do a patch test on the back of your hand first.)

Honey Face Mask for Dry Skin

Mix:
  • Mix 1 teaspoon mashed avocado, 1 teaspoon plain whole milk yogurt, 1 teaspoon honey in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Spread the mixture over your face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes before washing it off.
The fats in the avocado and whole milk yogurt are deeply moisturizing to the skin, while the lactic acid in the yogurt smooths your skin, refines pores, and stimulates collagen production.

Honey Face Mask for Sensitive Skin

Mix:

  • Stir 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel and 2 teaspoons honey together and apply over your face.
  • Leave it on for about 10-20 minutes.
Aloe soothes inflammation and calms your skin, perfect for those with sensitive, irritated skin.

Honey Face Mask for Scars and Dark Spots

Mix:

  • Combine 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of honey, and apply the mixture to your face.
  • Allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes.
Lemon juice exfoliates your skin, brightens dark spots and fades scars. Your skin will feel smooth and soft right away, but it may take a few applications to notice a real difference in scars and spots.

How To Get Rid Of Dark Spots On Your Face: Hormonal Melasma mask

For Hormonal Melasma:

Mix:

  • Start with 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 tablespoon of coconut milk, and add 2-3 drops of clove essential oil.

  • Leave the mask on your face for at least five minutes and rinse off with luke warm water. Be sure to apply a moisturizer with UV protection.

Why It Works:

Brown sugar is high in glycolic acid, which is known to improve melasma and often found in pricy chemical peels for that very reason.
Coconut milk is high in lactic acid, another great way to treat melasma. According to DermNet NZ, both lactic and glycolic acids are able to remove the topical layer of infected skin and promote tyrosinase activity. Tyrosine not only helps pigmentation and melanin, but according to the University of Maryland Medical center, it regulates hormones as well.
Clove essential oil is well-known in the homeopathic community for balancing hormones and it won't cause further pigmentation issues when applied topically.

This mask requires diligence and time, so repeat daily on makeup free skin for best results.
